Chimera - Gestolen Lente (Holland 2016) @320

After releasing 2 iconic albums in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the members of Chimera went their own way. Chimera became known for its own special approach, sometimes described as capricious or quirky, mixing old and new, and drawing a large fan-base.
Now Chimera is back. Bas and Marry Verkade (who founded Chimera) and their son Marijn, accompanied by their fellow 1980s bandmembers in several tracks. Songs in Dutch, all own compositions, haunting female vocals, string instruments and the characteristic soprano and alto recorders.

Maria Kalaniemi - Maria Kalaniemi [1992 Finland] @320

Maria Kalaniemi, a master of free-bass button accordion and one of the worlds´ leading contemporary accordionists. Once a member of pioneering groups, Niekku, Aldargaz from the Sibelius Academy Folk Music Department, where she now teaches, her roots are in folk and classical music but her sights and abilities go far beyond existing styles. Technically brilliant as a player and adept at improvisation, she is also very powerful, intuitive and sensitive composer, with pieces that stylistically touch in numerous areas but feature her own personality as the driving force.
