These compilations are wonderful. Unlike my native New England, the region in which I currently live does not offer much in the way of folk music. These compilations fill a void and I value each one for the great music and the introduction to artists with whom I am unfamiliar. I can think of nor find any other blog that is as devoted to the best of authentic folk music and thank you all for your commitment to providing so much to us. Contrary to what some in the recording industry may think, when I discover a new voice or musical group here and enjoy him, her, or them, I then try to buy as much of the artist's or artists' music as possible. I have purchased two Geraldine Mac Gowan recordings since you posted her. In other words, this blog is my de facto folk music station and I am grateful that you, Crimson King, Skylamb, Yojik, and any other contributor whom I have inadvertently neglected to name, expend the time and effort on our behalf. I have no doubt that all of you are appreciated by many more than those few who post comments here. Thanks again.
Thank you Feilimid. The compilations are the exclusive initiative of Left Blank who with his knowledge and good taste in music enrich the content of the blog.
I realize that and apologize if my remarks weren't clear in their intent to convey both my thanks to him as well as to you and the other contributors collectively for all that you have provided over the several years that I have been following this blog. The compilations are exceptional but so is so much of the music provided here and, of course, you provide the forum for it to all fall together. More simply put, this blog enriches me and I suspect many others, and greatly increases our knowledge of folk music.
All moderators of the FY blog welcome your words. No need to apologize for anything. You were very friendly and polite.:)
That's exactly why I share these compilations. Make artists known and give people the desire to buy their records. In order to contribute (even a little bit) to perpetuate this music that I love and the artists who make it.
Thanks for sharing all this marvellous music: Many people will enjoy with your kindness. Just one question, any option to get full cd of Waxies Dargle? I have discoverd them today. Awesome
I agree with all the comments on this post. I like Feilimid use this as a sounding board and purchase many cd's based on what I hear here. This site and the trad program The West Wind which runs nightly during the week on ClareFM out of Ennis, County Clare, are where I hear 99% of the music I listen to.
