The BD Swing Orchestra has created a dynamic, explosive and festive sound through its distinctively youthful, open and convivial approach to traditional Breton music. On this disk, its 15 young musicians from the Tregor (north-western  Brittany), merge their love of traditional music with their talent for revitalising it, plus a fair dose of fun and infectious good humour. Katé-Mé - Live (2008 France / Bretagne) @320

Funk / Jazz-Rock / Fest-Noz Crossover and The power of live sound.
Highly recommended!

July 2009: after thirteen years of good and loyal services Katé-Mé gives his last concert at the festival of Cornwall in Quimper and announces a break of the group. March 2016: seven years later, the band hit the road again. It is the return of one of the major groups of the Breton music of the years 2000. Seven years after its "pause", Katé-Mé continues to enjoy an excellent reputation, due to its rather rockic stage performances, its committed texts and a recognizable sound among a thousand: mixture of singing "trad-scat-rap", of couple biniou-bombarde alternated with a section of bombardes, and a rhythmic bass-guitar-battery very coherent. The group's image is also marked by his discography: the live album and his three original albums, Katé-Mé, Entrance and La république des papillons, remain outstanding recordings of this era.Katé-Mé was inspired by the singing tradition (French) of high Brittany (Loire-Atlantique, Ille-et-Vilaine, Eastern Morbihan and Côtes d'Armor) to create his songs. The band has also been inspired by other influences such as rock, funk, jazz, ragga or rap. The texts of the songs are sometimes from the popular tradition, sometimes written by Sylvain Girault. The music is mostly composed by the band's musicians. To a question put to him in 2007, the group answered: "The singing and the trad music of Upper Brittany is our culture, our impregnation, our common musical language. We use it to create our own music, to talk to others, to express ourselves singularly. We are looking for music that is both rooted and universal. "For this ephemeral return, in 2016, Katé-Mé revisits its repertoire, with an even more "rock" sound and texts rewritten to bring them in line with current events and a strong desire to reinforce their constativeness in the social and economic aspects. ecological.

Katé-Mé - La République des papillons (2006 France / Bretagne) @320

Funk / Jazz-Rock / Fest-Noz Crossover
Highly recommended!

Katé-Mé is certainly one of the groups that has the most kneaded material from the soil of the traditional music of  haute-Bretagne.
This trend is particularly noticeable at the level of singing that does not hesitate to mix influences trad 'and escaped ragga. Their third album, La République des Papillons, confirms the success of this project: the use of traditional instruments, the writing of texts on current themes as well as musical compositions in the traditional way, go hand in hand with the the impact of varied rhythms and all-out experimentation to develop one of the most exciting Celtic fusions of the moment.

Zef - Génépi fugace (2017 France) @320

Zef, opus 5, "Génépi Fugace", is a diptych, a hurricane mass with one hand, a sweet note on the other.
A double mirror album;
- On one side Zef in full, which will be the fifth album.
- On the other side the Zeffeurs. Formula created during a festival, it stages the various musicians of the group, combining them in multiple duets. It releases many intimacies. For his fifth album ZEF is tinged with temptation. A clever mix of adventurous plants will be brought together in this slow-ripening vintage. We will find the fleeting notes of flying dances and insolent curves to the edge of drunkenness.
It is high time to stop the time and to be amazed by the angels.

A crossover between the overall sound, matured, textured, aged cask, and the fragility of more intimate and spontaneous duets.

MANdolinMAN - Unfolding the Roots (2016 Belgium) @320

‘Unfolding The Roots’ is the latest album of traditional Flemish folk music with a mandolin twist by Belgian four-piece band, MANdolinMAN. After their first album ‘Old Tunes, Dusted Down’ and a second album on which they explored the bossa nova style, MANdolinMAN have returned to their roots.
‘Unfolding The Roots’ sees the foursome dig even deeper into Flemish folk music and once again breathe new life into old tunes and melodies from the province of Flemish Brabant. Played on four mandolins, the music takes on new forms and the historic melodies are injected with contemporary vigour.
‘Unfolding The Roots’ is a microcosm of Flemish folk music with 12 polkas, waltzes, mazurkas and the long line folk dances made up of couples on either side, the contra dances.  The arrangements are pristine, a credit to the album’s music director and MANDolinMAN’s founder, Andries Boone. Other musicians include mandolinists Dirk Naessens (Black Velvet, Amorroma and MacRahl) and Peter-Jan Daems (Tantra and famous guitar trio Snaarmaarwaar) and mandocellist Maarten Decombel (Naragonia Quartet, Snaarmaarwaar and Les Tisserands).

fol&ar - Fol&Ar (2008 Portugal) @320

The fol&ar project was born in 2006, joining a group of instruments with a mind of their own with a group of musicians passionate about dance and traditional music.

With themes inspired in dances from all over Europe, we started introducing our ball project. In that first project we gathered the unique sound of each instrument with the intimate environment of music sharing. From the joy of the malhão to the intimate drag of the mazurka, we created a group of themes to whom we can individually relate and a sound that defines us as a whole.

In 2008 we introduced our first album, also called fol&ar, made of only original theme songs, guest starring Ana Lúcia Palminha (voice), Alexandre Matias e Duda Amaro (percussions), produced by Nuno Gelpi e ourselves.

Reaching our grown up age, but keeping the same work line and the same care we give each theme, we are presenting ourselves in 2012 with a new line up that broadens the horizons to our approach to traditional music.

Ballsy Swing - Le pain quotidien (2017 France) @320

Formed in the ruins of an ancient Roodanian miroiterie, this group carries with it a story worthy of a traditional tale, an ode to the tragic youth of musicians who had for sustenance only a few pizzas marinated in jasmine tea.
In this maze of dark cellars, three promising members were reared in cages with intensive listening to Bach, Jean-Michel Jarretelle and other occult repertoires of Auvergne drunk. And during their childhood they were often seen trailed, chained, on the floors of the most improbable balls, fed only with zucchini fins and muslin nutria, with the intention of making them the future great manitous of the industry. Hip hop musette with committed lyrics.
Taking advantage of a clear night moonless they managed to escape, taking refuge for a while in the cabaret strip-tease, to conclude this epic on the floors of folk balls.
Today Colin Delzant (cello), Valère Passeri (violin) and Lucas Thebaut (diatonic accordions) are proud to offer you the fruit of this incredible journey: a music that will make you dance, scream, can be even take off at the sound of this swing ... which comes from far!

Vegetal Jam is a Folk musical duo founded in 2012. It is formed by accordionist David Aznar, from Zaragoza, and violinist and cellist Miguel Guallar, from Ejea de los Caballeros.
The name of the group means in Spanish "Vegetable jam", since they declare themselves as a rhythm jam: Natural music, without added sugars. It is a Folk style for dancing, mixing Aragonese rhythms and the rest of Europe, with songs of its own composition.
On December 21, 2012 they released their first album, Danza del Bosque Encantado, which was presented on January 11, 2013. In it all songs are danceable compositions, predominantly waltzes and mazurkas.
